Ceramic Coating

Ceramic Coating

What is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is a hydrophobic liquid polymer applied to the exterior of a vehicle to protect its paint from harsh elements and provide a long-lasting shine. Unlike traditional wax, which wears off over time and requires reapplication, the ceramic coating forms a permanent bond with the paint, creating a protective layer that is resistant to UV rays, chemicals, and contaminants. This coating enhances the vehicle’s gloss and depth of color, making it look new for longer. Additionally, ceramic coating makes maintenance easier by repelling water, dirt, and grime, so washing the vehicle becomes a simpler and less frequent task.

How do you apply Ceramic Coating?

Surface Prep

Approximate Time: 12 – 18 hours

To ensure ceramic coating properly adheres to the vehicle paint you must perform a full surface prep.  Prepping the vehicle involves the following:

  1. Remove any dirt and debris with a full detail.
  2. Clay bar the entire exterior of the vehicle.
  3. Complete a full iron decontamination.
  4. Use a surface prep product such as Gyeon surface prep.
  5. Complete a full paint correction to remove imperfections in the clear coat.
  6. Perform a second surface prep with the same product.

Ceramic Application

Approximate Time: 6 – 8 hours

Once the surface is prepped you are ready to apply the ceramic coating.  Application involves the following:

  1. Apply a thin layer of ceramic coating to the exterior of the vehicle.
  2. Apply a second layer of ceramic coating using a cross hatch pattern.
  3. Ensure a level coating by going over the surface with a clean, soft microfiber towel.
  4. Using a new, clean, soft microfiber towel buff surface to remove excess product.
  5. Using a new, clean, soft microfiber towel perform a final (or guarantee) wipe to ensure all residual product is removed.

Allow the product to soft cure for 24 hours before driving the vehicle. Full/hard cure will occur after about 2 weeks.
